Application Performance Analyst/RUM & BSM Administrator

Description of Work:

Client is seeking an Application Performance Analyst/RUM & BSM Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified candidate will be responsible for administering the RUM/BSM platform in support of a core business application. 

This position will:

• Ensure the availability and adequate performance of the applications to the customers.
• Provide proactive prevention service to minimize or avoid disruption or degradation of services to the customers.
• Provide management with situational and trend reports regarding application performance.
• Produce reports and analysis as needed.

This position requires a Senior Administrator with in-depth knowledge of MicroFocus (Formerly HP) Real User Monitor (RUM) and Business Service Management (BSM) product lines. 

Tasks for this position include:

• Installing the hardware components and software versions of the monitoring tools and apply upgrades and scheduled/emergency maintenance to the tool software and infrastructure. 
• Utilizing the MicroFocus Real User Monitor/Business Service Management (RUM/BSM), tool for monitoring the architecture and for identification, tracking, and resolution of problems in the applications and its associated components and services.
• Troubleshooting RUM and BSM problems/alerts, perform root cause analysis, report problems to the tool vendor, and open and track service requests for fixes.
• Responding to alerts from the RUM/BSM monitor and investigate the nature of the problem identified by the alert.  Identify the location (site, region, provider, etc.) of the problem.  Analyze the information for possible causes of the problem.
• Interfacing with the problem-reporting site to notify them of problems alerted for and assist with analysis and resolution of the problem.
• Analyzing data reported from the RUM/BSM monitors for missing data and high response times.
• Utilizing the RUM/BSM reporting facilities to design performance reports for the application(s) and post them on the tool’s website. 
• Create graphical and text reports for site, regional, transaction, end user, etc. performance.
• Building SQL queries and ad-hoc reports for ongoing, standard performance reports on performance statistics, problem situations and for special reports requested by management.
• Creating and maintaining database schemas to store data in formats needed by reports as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of relevant work experience; OR Masters and 5 years of relative experience; OR 11 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5 years of experience configuring and administering MicroFocus Real User Monitor (RUM) and Business Service Management (BSM) tools, installing the tools, installing patches, troubleshooting issues, defining transactions to be monitored and resolving monitoring issues, generating reports, creating dashboards, and configuring alerts
• 2 years of experience working with backend database including SQL Server.
• 2 years of experience administering MicroFocus products in RedHat Linux and Windows platform and in applying patches in RedHat Linux and Windows platform.
• Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green card holder)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in coordinating activities across multiple components.
• Experience working and administering MySQL databases.
• Experience with programming and scripting languages.
• Advanced experience with Excel such as macro development.
• Knowledge of a software development lifecycle that includes development, validation, integration, training and production.
• Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills.
